we looked on mobygratis for soundtrack music, we came across three different ones called ana.across and accident. weh have requested the soundtrack for ana and across and they should be with us by tomorrow so we can add them to our film. the song ana we have chosen to use when the ghost is wondering because it adds to the effect very well . both sounds are gentle and mysteruious which is perfect for the ghost bestfriends effect without making the film sound too much like a horror or spooky

my film poster - not my time
click on image to view the film poster at a larger size>>>>>
this is my film poster for not my time. similar to my film review i have kept to the colours of black, blue and white as they all symbolises the death aspect and life after death, i have used lighter colours such as white and lighter shades of the coloru blue as this is about the spirit of a young nice girl who has raised from the dead. i used picnik to edit my original picture which is a picture of sphia moss the girl who plays lily, i used special effects such as circle splash which give the rays of light on the poster and boost which gives the whole picture the grey/bluey colour it has. i used these effects as they have the connotations of death, and being trapped between life and spirit, and it makes sophia look more ghost and like a little girl lost. i chose the slogan " a true friendship last a lifetime" because it really relates to the plot about two bestfriends and even though one is dead they are still bestfriends it also adds in with the idea that there is life after death. i also chose to use the polaroid effect as in our film the whole thing starts with the picture of the two girls when they were younger fools out and the film consists of backflashes so pictures are the memories whick bonds the two girls even after death. i tried to use writing which was edgy and a bit like child handwriting, i wanted to use edgy writing as the film is about life after death but didnt use to much because it is not a horror and i wanted to use childlike writing to emphasis the whole idea of childhood and bestfriends. i placed the font at the very top and bottom and at the left hand side as i wanted it to be noticable but id dint want to take away the focus of the main oicture especially of sophias face. i put the slogan at the top for thisa reason but also because a slogan is a very important part of a film poster it has to be seen a it has to catch ones eye. by placing it where i did it is very noticable and doenst take anything away from the image. like most film poster i put the actors names producers and directors and any othe riformation at the bottom is a block of writing alltogether. this is because even though this information is important it is nothing something that will appeal to the audience or catcht their eye, obviously the stars in the movie are very imprtant and can genuiuenly make the audience want to see the film depending on who is in so i put the actresses also on the left hand side as well as ina smaller print at the bottom.

not my time - my magzine review

this is my magazine film review for our short film not my time. i chose to use a large image for the main picture as this is popular convention in magaxine reviews and i used a smaller image from the film as well to give people an idea of the genre of the film. i chose to use two colour blu and black i used these two colours becaue one, they have the conventions of a drama, genre and symbolises greatly in the conceots of death and i also used these two colours as they work really well together and i didnt want to over do it by using different colours and taking the readers eye away from the main point which is obviously the review of the film. like most reviews ui chose to give mine a star rating which was 5. in my description i uncluded the producers, a very short synopsisi of the films plot, a little of detail of the producers of the film and any mistakes were made and a quote from the film director steven spilberg to add even more temptation for the reader to go out and watch the film.

magazine review
this is the magazine film review is for the film avatar, we can see straight away that the a3 spreedsheet mainly consist of images, the main image is the largew image on the page taken from a key point in the film. surrounding it are smalelr images of othere scenes in the film, from the image we get an idea of the genre of the film and ideas of what may be happening in the film. this is good as them the audience get a "teaser" and by doing this it can make a reader really want to go see the film, this is good publicity. the main things that this magazine review include are the images, the name, the star rating, information about the film, the producers, directors, actors and small but detailed plot, which gives an idea of the plot of the film but not enough to give too much away. the colours are orange black white and blue, they have kept the colours basic and in line with the sci fi genre of the film. the font ans size of the writing is kept the same the throughout and the pulblisher as concentraited on making it descripted and symbloic without making it too "fancy".
this is magazine film review of short film "APPLE" this film review consist of a number of smaller images rather than a lrage main image which is often seen in film magazines for full length films. the colours are simplisitc green, white background and black font, it is also again quite detailed in the writing. unlike a lot of film reviews this one has plenty of uncovered space, we can see rather alot of the white background which is not often seen. they have images similar to the images on the i am legend of the short film actually being filmed and not just still images from the film. it tells you who produced the film and how they went about filming the film and the plot to the film, again they gave it the ratings 9/10 however you usually see it in the five star rating convention.

target audience profile
We have decided that the target audience for our short film ‘not my time’ will be 12 year olds to 34 years old although people of all ages from 12 upwards would be able to watch it.
Firstly, we decided that the film would be certificated at 12 is because when we checked online to the categories the film had to fit in with the bbfc guidelines which were as followed for a 12/12a film :
Discrimination
Discriminatory language or behaviour must not be endorsed by the work as a whole. Aggressive discriminatory language or behaviour is unlikely to be acceptable unless clearly condemned. – Our film will not include any discrimination at all through the acting or speaking.
Drugs
Any misuse of drugs must be infrequent and should not be glamorised or give instructional detail. In our short film there is no use of drugs or any preferences to drugs.
Horror
Moderate physical and psychological threat may be permitted, provided disturbing sequences are not frequent or sustained. Although our film is about life/death it is not in a scary sense the girl who comes back is mercy’s best friend, there is nothing that could psychologically harm anyone.
Imitable behaviour
Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied, or appear pain or harm free. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised. In our film the girl who dies did commit suicide however this will not be shown and the only reference is when the woman says she committed suicide.
Language
Moderate language is allowed. The use of strong language (for example, ‘fuck’) must be infrequent. There will be no swearing or strong language in our film.
Nudity
Nudity is allowed, but in a sexual context must be brief and discreet. The film will not contain any nudity
Sex
Sexual activity may be briefly and discreetly portrayed. Sex references should not go beyond what is suitable for young teenagers. Frequent crude references are unlikely to be acceptable. There is no sexual activity or sexual references; only thing that could come close is the fact that one of the characters is pregnant.
Theme
Mature themes are acceptable, but their treatment must be suitable for young teenagers. The theme is mature but easy to understand and acceptable for teenagers as it includes the plot of two bestfirends.
Violence
Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated, and must have a strong contextual justification. There is no violence in this film at all, the only part were you may think there is is when mercy pulls away from lily but this is not done in an aggressive way just to represent that mercy has came to self realisation.
We decided to fit in between the 12 and 34 categories as research shows that 18-34 bands is the most popular target audience to aim at especially when making horror/drama films. We believe our target audience is good as it fits in with the guidelines its aimed at the most popular band and along with one of the most popular genres that these age ranges wat
Mood boards colours
View more presentations from cassy.
this is a presentation for my mood board i have included things such as the colours which best represent my short film such as balck blue grey - as it is a horr/drama film about life and death experiences.
examples of different fonts that i could use such as chiller, gothic and a range of others.
and different images such as a cementry, a ghost, a girl all alone and a light which represents near death experiences because all these images, fonts and colours represent the mood and tone of my short films and all relate to it in different ways.
the unborn uk film posters
after anaylisisng the unborn film poster that was published in the usa i decided to also anaylsis the film posters uk version. firstly there is a big difference in the colour used in this version the colours are blue and grey and white, they are all pasty colours and create a ghosty effect to the poster. again the white has been used when it comes to the text again as in the usa version white symbolises purity which in this case represents the birth. the tile of the film is also a lot bigger size and stands out more as it is in the middle of the page although placed down lower than the usa version. the writing also has a more glowing effect and the white is more bolder, i think when it comes to the text and the style of it the uk version is defiently more attractive and appealing.
in this film poster both characters are shown the main woman and the boy, and are shown in the best way through the mirror, this is good because it is a classic scenerio in a horror film were someone looks int he mirror ans sees soemthing that is nesscarily not there or jumps upon them. by doing tbis not only are the two main characters featured in a good length of space but it also makes the audience aware that the film is going to be a horror/thriller. when looking at the characters apperances the sense of a horror film is again conveyed as the girl looks shocked and dumbfounded and the little boy loooks ratehr scary with his ghosty white face and the brusises around him. the way the movie poster is layed out the lighting used and the colours really express the mood and tone of the film, we can tell its a horror film and the sense that the problems are going to be lying with the woman and the boy.
unlike the usa version the slogan on the uk one is a lot more catchy "evil will do anything to live " tells us that the child is evil also representing the genre to the movie and it also tells us that it will go to any resort to make sure it lives, which will keep the audience wondering what it will do to stay alive so this will appeal to the audiecne and make them want to see the film; exactly what a film poster should do.
similary to the usa version the names of the actors/actresses are not included in the top hand corners which we usually see on film posters all the writing appears underneath the title such as the names of producers and comapnys althought this writing is very small.
overall the uk version in my opinion is better than the usa one as it features both characters, has more of a ghosty effect, it more catching due tot he colouring and the sloagan and tells the audience much more of the kind of film it is representing but without giving too much away.the only critcsm i have which is similar to the usa version is that the characters names should appear and agian if it was someone well known it would have a bigger impact on the audience.

film poster - the unborn
this is the film poster for the horror film the unborn. firstly i am going to be looking at the font, size and colour of the wording. the writing is in clear bold white writing, i am beleiving this to be done because white is suppose to symbolise purity and life and of course by the title name we can see that this film is about a child being born of course with a twist in it. the writing is quite normal and straight to the point and i think this is doen because in the film poster the main capturing point is the image of thw women and they didnt want to take too much focus of her.
the film poster includes the main actor Odette Yutman and just her alone her expressions in the face conveys that she is worried and scared and clearly in a state of torment. the idea that the shot of her is from a side angle implies that they wanted to give hints about the film is doesnt give to much a gives the denotation that soemthing is hiding.
the design is of a woman who looks in pain with water bein poured of her possibly from a shower the background is brick work soo natrually quite dark along with the lighting however the actor looks like an everyday person and they made her look and clothes seem oridnary which will just add to the element of suprise fear and shock when the audience watches the film and the plot reveals itself and again the producers wnat people to see this poster and being instantly determined to see it without giving too much away.
there are no other images included on the film poster perhaps because the the central image takes up the space and conveys enough itself. although we do have the texts on the right hand side of the poster which were we have the slogan " it wants to be born now" the credits for example the film comapny which is releasing the film, the people to thank for the movie in the credits for example producer etc and that and also the companys icon and the website for the film. this was structured very well as it was orangised neatly on the left hanside, which left most focus on the image and was spaced far enough away from the slogan and title for them to stand out and make and impact.
the catchy slogan on this movie is "it wants to be born now" im not sure if this slogan can be described as catchy but it defiently gives an emphasis on what will happen within the film. it tells us that this women is going to more than liekly give birth to a "demon" child.
when looking at this poster there are a number of things which could be added or changed. firstly i have noticed that the actress name is not on the poster and mostly they are on the left handed side and moving over to the left. by this it conculdes that it is not a well known actress playing in the film which is a let down in attracting people to the film, it also gived across the image that perhaps the film may not be too good which is why know famous actress is in it.
secondly i would make the slogan more catchy althought the poster i analysed is the us version so i will anaylse the uk poster next so i can make the comparsion between the two. i think the poster within itself is persuasive but with the change of the points i have added it would be even more persuasive.
changes to storyboard
when we started filming our short film we decided to add a bathroom scene into the storyboard, due to timing and character avalibilty we also decided tho begin the film in the university mercy attends instead of just implying she was walkinghome from college we also added the bathroom scene after shes "sees" lily as it gives the audience a true perspective of how she was feeling after and by splashing the water on her face it was if she was "waking" herself up. all these changed with be scripted into the storyboard. we have manged to film the beginning of the short film and are now working towards getting all filming finished.
